Description:
This program will explore the individual's privacy rights under the federal FERPA and HIPAA statutes and how those rights apply to students in an educational setting. An in-depth review of both statutes will be discussed as well as the statutes application to students under 18 and over 18. Recent violent acts in schools will be discussed with a view toward how educational institutions are hampered and helped by these laws and what changes can be made.
