Quick Tip: “I try to meet every challenge with a resounding and affirmative ‘yes.’ It has expanded my horizons, opened doors and provided immense professional and personal growth.”
Ahead of the pack: In addition to his employment and litigation practice Andrew J. Turro specializes in equine and racing law. His practice covers a broad range of matters and he has represented both individuals – including owners, jockeys, trainers and breeders – and professional groups – such as the Standardbred Owners Association of New York – before the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, the New York Gaming Commission and federal and state courts. His practice also extends to representing members of the New York Thoroughbred Horseman’s Association in connection with federal and state labor law-related cases.
Running Strong: Turro has been the lead attorney in challenging the legality and constitutionality of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board’s out –of -competition drug-testing regulations for Standardbred race horses. He prevailed in the New York Supreme Court, which struck down the regulations, and the New York Court of Appeals will hear the matter later this year.
