James D. Garbus, a member of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein P.C., Chair of the Corporate Law Department and Co-Chair of the Corporate Finance group, has been appointed Chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Meyer Suozzi’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, formed in 2011, actively assists in the development of plans, strategies, and initiatives that foster and encourage diversity and inclusion.
Recent efforts include the establishment of understanding and awareness training programs and support of with diverse organizations such as the Women’s Fund of Long Island for which the firm’s Managing Attorney, Lois Carter Schlissel is a Board Member; the Metropolitan Black Lawyers Association; the Korean-American Lawyers Association of Greater New York; the Long Island Gay, Lesbian & Transgender Network (LI GLBT), for which Mr. Garbus serves on the Board of Directors and of which Meyer Suozzi is a Corporate Sponsor; and numerous other organizations.
Mr. Garbus specializes in corporate law and finance representing established as well as start-up businesses, providing day-to-day general corporate representation including legal and business advice to management on strategic planning including exit strategies and operational issues as they arise. Mr. Garbus focuses his practice in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, representing both issuers and investors, including seed, private equity, and venture capital transactions and mezzanine and acquisition financing. Mr. Garbus also represents borrowers, banks and other debt providers in lending transactions including senior secured and subordinated debt facilities. He has experience in structuring and forming complex joint ventures, limited partnerships and limited liability companies.
