On June 11, 2012, Meyer Suozzi had an impressive victory on behalf of its client, a high-end jewelry designer, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Our client, the former president of a diamond ring distributor, was sued by his former partner and employer for claims including allegations of copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and business torts. While our motion to dismiss was pending, the plaintiff brought a motion to enjoin him from doing business at an important trade show and otherwise to prohibit them from selling various designs – threating to shut down the entire operation and depriving them of their livelihoods. Our team, led by Lynn M. Brown, prevailed at the trial of the preliminary injunction motion held before Judge Sweet, without having to put on their case.
