Meyer Suozzi, one of Long Island’s largest law firms, is pleased to announce that Patricia Galteri has been elected as the firm’s next President and Managing Attorney. Effective September 1, 2017, Ms. Galteri will assume the role currently held by Lois Carter Schlissel, who has led the firm and managed its four offices in Garden City, New York City, Albany and Washington D.C., since 2002.

Ms. Galteri, who serves as Chair of the Wills, Trusts & Estates Department, as a member of the Management Committee and as Treasurer, will focus on maintaining the firm’s client-centric approach to the practice of law and keeping the firm’s strategic vision on course. In addition to her new management responsibilities, Ms. Galteri will continue to practice law, proactively working with her clients to customize estate and family business planning solutions, ensuring the tax efficient transfer of wealth to the next generation.

Upon being unanimously elected to the position, Ms. Galteri said, “It is quite an honor to be elected by my colleagues to this leadership role.” She stated, “I will continue the many initiatives Lois and the Management Committee have undertaken and will work diligently with members of the firm as we look towards the future to support our diverse practice areas and foster excellence in our capabilities.”

“Pat is a consummate professional and a wonderful colleague. She is committed to the well-being of our clients and has demonstrated strong leadership within our firm and our community” said Lois Carter Schlissel. Mrs. Schlissel will continue to serve on the firm’s Management Committee and Chair the firm’s Employment Law Department.

In the firm’s 57 years, there have been only five Managing Attorneys. Ms. Galteri will be the firm’s 6th and second consecutive female Managing Attorney. Mrs. Schlissel served as the first female Managing Attorney on Long Island.

Harold Ickes, Chairman and longtime member of the firm said, “I have had the pleasure of working with Pat for many years. She is a talented and highly regarded attorney, and a wonderful colleague and motivating leader.” He continued, “Meyer Suozzi is very fortunate to have her excellent skills to lead the firm in an ever-changing legal profession.”
