Long Island Business News quoted Paul Millus in an article titled “NY Governor Creates Task Force to Conduct Nail Salon Probes.” The article, published May 11th, discusses how Gov. Andrew Cuomo is creating a task force to conduct investigations into nail salons around New York, following a report of widespread exploitation of workers.
The article stated: “It should not have taken a New York Times article to point out that workers, many of them undocumented, are being taken advantage of by their employers,” noted Paul F. Millus, an employment law attorney and partner at Garden City-based Meyer, Suozzi, English, & Klein.
“Emergency measure may be in order but the state of New York, dating back to Gov. Spitzer, has stepped up its wage and hour law enforcement significant” he added. “How these nail salon workers fell through the cracks in terms of enforcement is puzzling.”The full article can be read at Long Island Business News (may require subscription).
