Thursday, November 17, 2022, the Long Island Business News (“LIBN”) hosted its Leadership in Law Awards recognizing individuals whose leadership, in both the legal profession and the community, has had a positive impact. Meyer Suozzi is proud to share that three of our attorneys A. Thomas Levin, Patricia Galteri, and Steven Cheng were among the 2022 Leadership in Law award recipients.
LIBN established the Leadership in Law award to honor those that exemplify dedication, hard work, skill, tenacity, and compassion. Alongside these qualities, recipients demonstrate outstanding achievements, involvement in their profession, support of the community and mentoring.
A. Thomas Levin received the Lifetime Achievement award for his exceptional career as a member of the firm and as a leader and mentor in the legal profession. Mr. Levin has been selected for his countless contributions as a member and former general counsel for Meyer Suozzi and for his extensive knowledge in his field regarding land use law as it pertains to environmental compliance and government regulations. He was also recognized for his outstanding leadership for the diverse municipalities he acts as special counsel for. Mr. Levin represents private and public sector clients in local government law, land use regulation, environmental review compliance, cable television franchising, municipal and commercial litigation, appeals, and matters relating to professional responsibility, ethics, and disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Levin is a former President of the Nassau County Bar Association (1991-1992), and is a Life Member of that Association’s Board of Directors. He is also a former President of the 78,000 member New York State Bar Association (June 2003 – June 2004) and is a Life Member of that Association’s House of Delegates.
Patricia Galteri was recognized as a Leadership in Law Partner award recipient. Ms. Galteri was honored for her outstanding legal career and role as Managing Attorney to the firm. Ms. Galteri’s practice includes the development of estate and family business plans to ensure the tax efficient transfer of wealth to the next generation while meeting the specific personal goals of her clients. Her in-depth knowledge of the preparation of federal and state estate tax returns enables her to defend positions on gift and estate tax returns under audit.
Steven T. Cheng was honored as a Leadership in Law Associate award recipient for his extensive experience in Corporate Law, as well as his commitment to the community. Mr. Cheng’s practice focuses on general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and other business and financial transactions. He represents corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships, from startups to established companies, on various matters, including structuring, drafting and negotiating transactions, corporate governance, securities offerings, and their day-to-day operations. Mr. Cheng is also involved with local universities by mentoring students in their entrepreneurship centers and has acted as a mentor to Hofstra and St. John’s law students during Meyer Suozzi’s 2021-2022 Winter Diversity Fellowship program.
