Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, PC member and Chair of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, Kevin Schlosser participated as a presenter at a Continuing Legal Education program given by the Nassau County Bar Association Commercial Litigation Committee on June 2, 2011. The focus of the program was expert witness disclosure in state and federal courts. Presenting along with Mr. Schlosser were United States Magistrate Judge Arlene R. Lindsay of the Eastern District of New York and Nassau County Supreme Court Commercial Division Justices Ira B. Warshawsky, Stephen A. Bucaria and Timothy S. Driscoll. Michael Cardello III and Stephen J. Ginsberg of Morritt Hock & Hamroff, LLP and Jeffrey A. Miller and Greg S. Zucker of Westerman Ball Ederer Miller & Sharfstein LLP were also on the panel.
Mr. Schlosser explained the new pilot program being implemented in the Nassau County Commercial Division in which parties participating in the program will be entitled to expert witness reports and depositions similar to the procedures in federal court. Mr. Schlosser was the principal architect of the rules that will be implemented with this pilot program. The pilot program came about as a result of the work of the Expert Witness Disclosure Subcommittee of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Commercial Litigation Committee. Mr. Schlosser is the Chair of the Subcommittee. Jeffrey A. Miller, of Westerman Ball, was also instrumental in the court’s implementation of this special pilot program.
